Acupuncture Sessions

Acupuncture involves carefully inserting needles thinner than human hair along meridians, or energy channels, in the body. The needles stimulate Qi, restoring its flow and reestablishing balance.

People respond to acupuncture differently. Most take no notice when needles are inserted, while others are more aware of the energy the needles activate. Should you experience any discomfort during treatment, we will employ techniques to alleviate any unwanted sensations.

A typical acupuncture session lasts for an hour, and we do our best to make you as comfortable and relaxed as possible during this time. After the needles have been inserted, you are asked to focus on breathing evenly and to meditate; often, patients fall asleep, which allows the needles to work the most thoroughly.

Most patients are treated fully clothed. For optimum comfort, loose-fitting clothes are recommended. Paper gowns will be provided, if necessary. Because they interfere with treatment, no jewelry, watches or heavy perfumes may be worn during an acupuncture session.

We use sterile, disposable needles and have been nationally certified in clean needle techniques. You can rest assured that the needles used during your treatment are sterile and used only once.
